Illumine Arts, Point Richmond

9/11/13
Illumine Arts offers hand-crafted cards and prints from interfaith reflections of love, beauty, and joy. The artists embellish some of the cards with glitter or jewels. Positive messages and explanations about the image are on the cards.

Buddhist, Hindu, and Christian religions are acknowledged in the art, but some of the cards feature beauty in nature, such as a tiger, blush rose, or pink lotus.  "The Lotus flower symbolizes divine purity and enlightenment, as well as regeneration and rebirth.  This sacred flower grows in deep mud and closes and sinks in the water at night, rising and opening again at dawn, just like the sun.  Out of the depths of darkness sooner or later the Lotus reaches the Light becoming the most beautiful flower ever...and it is the same for us; we are born, we toil, we grow and learn, and eventually we evolve into Perfection."

I love sending cards. On birthdays and special occasions my friends may find something other than a utility bill in their snail-mail box. Typically I just send the cards that the Humane Society sends out with their donation requests, but when I see beautiful cards with positive messages, I can always think of a special friend deserving of a hand-written hello.
