Returning to California after a long weekend in Oregon, we finally reached the inspection station in Dorris. The station agent waved us through with a friendly smile. There was no traffic ahead of us, or behind us, so I was surprised they skipped any of the regular questions, but perhaps our bug-covered car and friendly faces didn't trigger any alarms of vegetable smuggling. Or whatever it is they worry about.Once you're back on the California side of the inspection, check out Dorris. it's a cute little town with American flags flying and a central water tower.
