Harvest Buffet

8/19/13

Friday night dinner:

So I think we went on the wrong night. I see oysters and shrimp in other pictures. Seafood night must be Saturday - too bad its not all weekend. Not that the buffet was bad. Per the wishes of our almost-bday girl, we gambled before eating so we didn't sit down to dinner until around 9. It was only $10 after a $3 discount for being members of the casino's Player's Club.

The food is in one long line and there's a lot to choose from. It's all labeled nicely and most of it was very good. The salad bar had a huge selection of toppings, my favorites including: bay shrimp, fresh (and pickled) jalapenos, whole and sliced black olives, green and red whole olives, and artichoke hearts.

The hot food was very good. Rare, thin-sliced roast beef, pastas, chicken (fried and baked, guacamole, veggies, soups, spicy cucumber, hamburgers with all the fixings, mushrooms, pizza, egg rolls and lots more. The only bad hot food item I tried was the mahi mahi - so dry! I cleaned two plates and really enjoyed it all.

Service was good. There is also a giant dessert section. I hit it up for some whipped cream only (for my coffee) but there was also flan, ice cream and lots of cakes and pies.

Good food (for a buffet); great selection; unbeatable price.

Saturday morning breakfast/brunch:

The buffet was unchanged from the night before. Almost every item was the same, with the addition of eggs, bacon, and sausage. (And the prime rib station had switched to omelettes).

Service was a trainwreck. Our server mentioned how tired she was; more than once! And the omelette maker has no business working in a buffet. She was seriously making one at a time and had no comprehension of multi-tasking. Cheese needs to be melted before removing the omelette. You don't put it on and immediately plate. Not impressed.

I was hoping for something I could put syrup on, but I settled for the same things I'd eaten 12 hours earlier. (Not that they were bad), but it should just be called lunch buffet with eggs.
