Cache Creek Casino & Resort, Brooks

8/28/13

Cache Creek is a little bit less than two hours from home. It'd probably be very expensive to have a casino much closer than that. (Like the one opening soon in Rohnert Park)

I love going to the casino and I'm a pretty responsible gambler. I like the penny slots and I don't play max bet. Sure, you could win more, but youre losing more a lot faster. And I really just go for the fun. You can't retire on anything youre going to win on a slot machine so I never dream about hitting a big win. My husband and I bet $0.15 bets every time we go to the casino and 99% of the time we have fun for hours and leave with a few more dollars than we started with.

Even though it's possible to make a day trip at Cache, it's more fun to spend the night. Book your reservation in advance because they definitely sell out of rooms on weekends. If you spend the monies, you may get rewarded with a comp'ed room. We haven't even earned enough credit for the $10 buffet to be comped yet. Slowly but surely, I guess. I think we almost had $1 of earned free play on the last visit.  :)

The rooms are nice. They're clean and spacious with a sofa for extra seating and a comfy bed. A narrow single-person soaking tub and a glass-walled shower with giant rain nozzle are in the large bathrooms.

My favorite part of the last trip here was the pool. We got up early for a swim before the buffet breakfast (note: skip breakfast buffet if you stay - its a dinner place). The infinity pool was so nice. The weather was great and the water temperature was incredible. the pool is very long and comfy lounge chairs sit all the way around. A bar in the pool area and a fireplace by the giant hot tub to top it all off. Towels are provided at the pool.

A complimentary fitness center is also on the property. I'm so tired of staying places that charge extra for this (Flamingo Las Vegas!) and then I have to run up the stairs. After a night of gambling, we were headed back to the room. To reach the hotel guest elevators you have to show your room card to a security officer. I asked him where I could find stairs to take up to the room and he told me there weren't any.  I imagine there actually are stairs but perhaps they are for fire emergency use only? Either way, loss of a star for hating on the healthy ones.  In other healthy news, they have a large non-smoking area with lots of games. It's very near the high-limit slot room.

Great casino and complimentary drink service while youre playing (no free booze), but the ladies working were quick to deliver us mini water bottles. And, of course, a hot chocolate with whipped cream for the Mister.
