Concord Feed and Pet Supply, Pleasant Hill

2/24/14

Found some help with the wet cat food aisle from a very friendly and knowledgeable employee. He literally went down the entire aisle with us, from left to right, top to bottom, asking if our cats had any special needs.

He explained the difference in prices, quality, substance, and what the varieties did and did not contain. We went home with 7 cans of various sizes - one variety was grain-free and the more-expensive Verus brand contained green lipped mussel. I bought several of the flavors they offered including chicken and pumpkin, which the cats really like.  Green lipped mussel  was fun to research a little more at home, and i learned it has a lot of benefits for cats, and especially our 11 yr old who likely has a bit of kitty arthritis. It can be used as an alternative medicine for healthy treatment of cats.

Since we were recently instructed to switch our older cat to an all canned-food diet, the little cat gets to benefit from this too.  We haven't found their "favorite" yet, (perhaps the Verus brand?) but it's nice to have a store with a good selection and employees so friendly and helpful.

They also sell baby chicks here. Do not pet them. Even though they're adorably cute and fluffy. My husband read aloud the big sign posted above them as my hand started reaching down to say hi. Aloud and loudly. Embarrassing for Amy  :)
