Castle Corsetry, Los Angeles

1/17/14

Once upon a time in a Castle far, far away (Los Angeles), an evil corset and costume-making villain named Maleficent (Note: I'm just taking a guess here, the owner's name might not actually be Maleficent) spent her time making custom costumes and being rude to potential customers.

One winter day, a young maiden (well, not that young...) from the Great Land of the North (the SF Bay Area) used a magical (inter)net to fish for mermaid leggings online. Coming across a deal for $6 the maiden registered for something she'd only heard of before and never used, the Etsy. She gave her 6 golden dollars to the Etsy and happily went about her day.

A carrier pigeon (yahoo) later delivered a scroll with a message confirming her purchase. She then revisited the item, only to read the description below: "Do not purchase if you aren't Kathleen." This maiden was not Kathleen (hint: her name starts with an "A") so she immediately contacted the owner with an apologetic attitude. But Maleficent didn't want to end things with a simple cancellation. She wanted to make sure this not-Kathleen-of-a-maiden knew she was wrong, so she sent another pigeon with a rude, stupid message.

Perhaps the corsets and costumes are pretty cool in the nerdiest of ways, but perhaps there are other companies with less villainous castle queens. Me thinks so. And the maiden lived happily ever after with 6 extra dollars in her pocket.
